SS8: Tänak on a roll!

30/03/2019

Thanks to another fastest time, Ott Tänak has closed the gap to Elfyn Evans to only two-tenths-of-a-second before tackling the stage that really sorts out the men from the boys in the CORSICA linea – Tour de Corse, the Castagniccia special that measures 47,18 kilometres! Thierry Neuville who was second-quickest is still in the fight just 10 seconds behind the leader. Dani Sordo, Teemu Suninen and Sébastien Ogier continue their battle for the remaining top places.

Saturday 30th March
SS8 (Désert des Agriates 1)
Distance: 14,45 km
Weather: Sunny
Road conditions: Dry

#5. KRIS MEEKE & SEBASTIAN MARSHALL
“This stage is different to the rest of the rally. It’s more like a circuit. I’m trying to improve my driving on this layout.”

#10. JARI-MATTI LATVALA & MIKKA ANTTILA
“I drove this stage only once last year so I’m still getting to grips with it. Obviously, I’m disappointed with my pace this morning; it’s annoying.”

#19. SÉBASTIEN LOEB & DANIEL ELENA
“This type of layout isn’t our car’s strong point – yet. We won’t be at our best here though it won’t be a disaster either. But we had a good opening stage so we’re happy.”

#4. ESAPEKKA LAPPI & JANNE FERM
“It’s worse than the first day. I’m surprised with the time as those at the front are not all that quick either. I don’t feel confident with the car, in particular at the front.”

#1. SÉBASTIEN OGIER & JULIEN INGRASSIA
It hasn’t changed. We haven’t yet pinpointed the solution. I don’t really know what to do for the moment.”

#3. TEEMU SUNINEN & MARKO SALMINEN
“We’ve made a change and it seems to be working.”

#6. DANI SORDO & CARLOS DEL BARRIO
“The stage went off without problems. We had a good run and I think the car’s going well. The guys in front have opened up a gap, but we’re going to keep pushing.”

#11. THIERRY NEUVILLE & NICOLAS GILSOUL
“Although we’re pretty quick the car’s still suffering from understeer. I enjoyed it here unlike last year when it was a disaster.”

#8. OTT TÄNAK & MARTIN JÄRVEOJA
“Of course, we’re on the limit today. With the fight we have on our hands we have to push hard and the car’s really good in these conditions.”

#33. ELFYN EVANS & SCOTT MARTIN
“It wasn´t really a great stage for us. We wanted to preserve our tyres here.”

#21. KALLE ROVANPERÄ & JONNE HALTTUNEN
“Yesterday wasn’t great. We changed a lot of things in the service park and it seems to work. On our first outing here I’m satisfied with our times this morning.

#22. LUKASZ PIENIAZEK & KAMIL HELLER
“It’s really pleasant here. The car slides a lot so you can have fun.”

#32. ÉRIC CAMILLI & FRANCOIS-XAVIER BURESI
“All’s going well. We have to stay focused. It’s really great fun with this car on these roads.”
