SS6: Thierry Neuville back in contention!

29/03/2019

Thierry Neuville’s morning got off to a slow start, but he had a good afternoon clinching his first stage victory. Elfyn Evans was slowed by Kris Meeke, who was in difficulty after his off in the previous special, and lost some time falling back to third behind Ott Tanak and Thierry Neuville. Nevertheless, the Welshman’s time should be adjusted and the order of the top three could change.

Weather: Sunny
Road conditions: Dry

#8. OTT TÄNAK & MARTIN JÄRVEOJA
“It was a good day. We were maybe a bit too cautious this afternoon. We had a damper problem, but it didn’t affect the car’s handling very much.”

#1. SÉBASTIEN OGIER & JULIEN INGRASSIA
“I have to find a solution to get the car to turn tomorrow as today it was very difficult. The car just won’t turn.”

#11. THIERRY NEUVILLE & NICOLAS GILSOUL
“I feel good in the car, but I lack a bit of grip to be able to go quicker. I’m pushing really hard; I’d like to be faster.”

#5. KRIS MEEKE & SEBASTIAN MARSHALL
“We were hoping that Elfyn would have a gap of three minutes, but apparently he didn’t. I wasn’t expecting him to catch me. I’m very sorry for him.”

#33. ELFYN EVANS & SCOTT MARTIN
“Kris blocked me but he didn’t do it on purpose. We’re good mates. I hope the right solution to the problem will be found.”

#4. ESAPEKKA LAPPI & JANNE FERM
“Apart from the spin I didn’t make any mistakes. I did my best today. It was very frustrating as we didn’t have the speed. We’re slow all the time.

#19. SÉBASTIEN LOEB & DANIEL ELENA
“It’s getting better and better, but we lost a big chunk of time this morning. I felt really confident in the car in this stage.”

#10. JARI-MATTI LATVALA & MIKKA ANTTILA
“It’s been a disappointing day. I was expecting better. First of all, I didn’t drive very well and then I had a puncture.”

#6. DANI SORDO & CARLOS DEL BARRIO
“I’m trying to do my best. This morning, I didn’t understand my times as I was driving normally. It was difficult this afternoon as the car wasn’t fast enough.”

#3. TEEMU SUNINEN & MARKO SALMINEN
“It was a good day for us as we were on the pace. I had a radio problem in the last stage.”
