SS4 – Evans fights back!

29/03/2019

Like this morning, Elfyn Evans put on a stunning performance in the ‘Bavella’ stage and has retaken the lead in the CORSICA linea – Tour de Corse. The Welshman is the only driver able to match the pace of the Toyotas and is really making an impact. He leads Ott Tänak and Thierry Neuville after SS4. Dani Sordo, Teemu Suninen and Jari-Matti Latvala round out the top six.

Friday 29th March
SS4 (Bavella 2)
Distance: 17,60 km

#8. OTT TÄNAK & MARTIN JÄRVEOJA
“There’s more gravel than this morning; the car was sliding around quite a lot. Overall, it’s going pretty much okay.”

#1. SEBASTIEN OGIER & JULIEN INGRASSIA
“Well, it’s certainly a bit better than this morning, but it’s still not great. I don’t know what else we can do to improve things.”

#11. THIERRY NEUVILLE & NICOLAS GILSOUL
“It still doesn’t feel right to me. We’ll see what happens in the next stage.”

#5. KRIS MEEKE & SEBASTIAN MARSHALL
“After what happened this morning now I have to focus on my driving. I really love driving this car and I’m doing my utmost to make up as much time as possible”.

#33. ELFYN EVANS & SCOTT MARTIN
“To be really honest it was a really good special. I’m very happy with our pace.”

#4. ESAPEKKA LAPPI & JANNE FERM
“I’m still too slow. I had a good stage but I think the R5s could go quicker!”

#19. SEBASTIEN LOEB & DANIEL ELENA
“This time we didn’t make any mistakes; it was a great stage.”

#10. JARI-MATTI LATVALA & MIKKA ANTTILA
“I have a problem with my notes and I’m still losing too much time even if it was better than this morning.”

#6. DANI SORDO & CARLOS DEL BARRIO
“I’m driving like I did this morning and my notes are good but the time isn’t. The Toyotas are still very quick. It’s not easy.”

“I’m pushing like crazy, but the guys in front are going really quickly. I’ve got to focus on finishing the rally.”
