SS10: Elfyn Evans still in contention

30/03/2019

While Kris Meeke set his second scratch time since the start, Elfyn Evans was the main beneficiary of this stage as he pulled back seven-tenths-of-a-second on Ott Tänak. But the Estonian still leads the Welshman by 1.6 seconds. Thierry Neuville was the only other driver able to match the pace of these three and Dani Sordo lost more than 10 seconds, second time through Cap Corse. In the coming stages, the Spaniard will have to be on the lookout for Sébastien Ogier who’s catching him.

Saturday 30th March
SS10 (Cap Corse 2)
Distance: 25,62 km
Weather: Sunny
Road conditions: Dry

#5. KRIS MEEKE & SEBASTIAN MARSHALL
“The grip was better as the temperatures are higher. It was a good stage.”

#10. JARI-MATTI LATVALA & MIKKA ANTTILA
“Kris was very quick. The grip on this special was different in some places. For us, no problems.”

#19. SÉBASTIEN LOEB & DANIEL ELENA
“We’ve got far too much understeer so driving was very difficult. We tried to change things in the service park; unfortunately we went in the wrong direction.”

#4. ESAPEKKA LAPPI & JANNE FERM
“No, it’s not getting any better even if I’m doing my very best.”

#1. SÉBASTIEN OGIER & JULIEN INGRASSIA
“It’s a bit better. We changed some setups in the service park and we’re going in the right direction, but for the moment it’s not making a lot of difference.”

#3. TEEMU SUNINEN & MARKO SALMINEN
“Everything’s going well and the car’s running like a dream. We have to focus on preserving the tyres as well as setting good times.”

#6. DANI SORDO & CARLOS DEL BARRIO
“Ok. It was difficult with the light in the forest. Otherwise, everything’s good.”

#11. THIERRY NEUVILLE & NICOLAS GILSOUL
“It was a great stage for us. We went really well.”

#8. OTT TÄNAK & MARTIN JÄRVEOJA
“A good special for us. Elfyn’s quicker? The finish is still a long way off…”

#33. ELFYN EVANS & SCOTT MARTIN
“It was a great stage and we didn’t run into any problems. We’re going to continue to push hard.”
