Home straight before the 2019 CORSICA linea – Tour de Corse!

This weekend, the last round of the WRC took place in Mexico before the Corsica linéa – Tour de Corse, which will be held between 28-31 March 2019. Victory in the 3rd round on the 2019 calendar went to French crew, Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia, in their Citroën C3 WRC from Ott Tanak’s Toyota Yaris WRC and British driver Elfyn Evans in his Ford Fiesta.

With only three weeks to go to the French round of the World Rally Championship (FIA WRC), the entrants are getting ready for another race on tarmac after snow (Sweden) and gravel (Mexico). Ogier (61 points) is currently lying second four points behind Tanak (65) from Estonia and he is determined to close the gap on his home turf in an event he has already won four times! The six-time reigning world champion will have to fight off the attacks of Thierry Neuville from Belgium, winner of the 2017 event, as well as the other local lad, Sébastien Loeb co-driven by Daniel Elena, who is determined to clinch another victory in a rally he has won on six occasions.

With 75% of the route renewed the drivers and co-drivers will have to keep an eagle eye open during reconnaissance on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before the event and in the very popular shake-down in Sorbo Ocagnano on Thursday morning, 28th March. After that all the crews will go to Porto Vecchio for the starting ceremony of the 62nd Tour de Corse. Rendezvous on Sunday 31st March in Calvi for the finish of the rally.
