08/04/2017

Date: Saturday 8th April
Section: 4
Special Stage: SS7 La Porta – Valle di Rostino 2 (48.71 km)
Weather: Sunny 21°C at the finish line
Road Conditions: Some dirt on the road.

4. PADDON / KENNARD – HYUNDAI I20 COUPE WRC
It didn’t feel so bad but I’m suprised the time isn’t much better than the first one. You can feel the tyres overheating now with the temperatures, especially in the wider middle sections where you can feel them shuddering. It’s cleaner than last year.

10. LATVALA / ANTTILA – TOYOTA YARIS WRC
Definitely better – we had a definitely better run. It’s very demanding. The tyres are surviving very well, there are some slippery places with the mud but otherwise the tyres are working very well. I changed something on the transmission, the changes are in the same direction as Juho.

6. SORDO / MARTI – HYUNDAI I20 COUPE WRC
I tried to push, for me it was a clear stage but the time is not so good. I tried to push. It’s not working.

8. BREEN / MARTIN – CITROEN C3 WRC
I’m happy with that, the next stage can be better I’m hoping. The next one should suit us better, we’ll see how it goes.

5. NEUVILLE / GILSOUL – HYUNDAI I20 COUPE WRC
I did quite well but I spun on the first hairpin left. I came back on the throttle and had a lot of wheelspin and spun. It’s moving quite a lot on the tyres but it’s OK.

1. OGIER / INGRASSIA – FORD FIESTA WRC
The plan is to catch him. I have to say I’m happy. I’ve improved the setup and I can trust the car more. I’ve never tried so many setup changes in a rally but it’s better now.

2. TANAK / JARVEOJA – FORD FIESTA WRC
I’m OK. We need to drive, a lot of things have been happening. I’ve been careful in the nasty parts but it’s OK.

11. HANNINEN / LINDSTROM – TOYOTA YARIS WRC
It was not bad, I was a bit too careful on these gravel places. The time is not so good in the morning.

32. MIKKELSEN / JAEGER-SYNNEVAAG – SKODA FABIA R5
We have more to come but it’s not necessary at the moment. We have a lead which we hope to keep but it’s difficult. We try to push as hard as I can but also be ready for some gravel around the corners.

84. SARRAZIN / RENUCCI – HYUNDAI I20 R5
I did my best but the stages are really dirty and I don’t carry enough speed in some corners. I am in a battle so let’s push.

34. SUNINEN / MARKKULA – FORD FIESTA R5
I’m still learning on tarmac.

44. ROSSEL / FULCRAND – CITROEN DS3 R5
I take a lot of pleasure. The car is fantastic and the stage is good. I want to keep my position.

38. VEIBY / SKJAERMOEN – SKODA FABIA R5
I made a mistake and had a spin at one of the hairpins at the end. Before that it felt really good, I just have to get rid of those mistakes.

40. LOUBET / LANDAIS – FORD FIESTA R5
We were really careful in this stage, it was the first pass for us.

31. CAMILLI / VEILLAS – FORD FIESTA R5
I lost the brakes after 10 kilometers.

33. KOPECKY / DRESLER – SKODA FABIA R5
We change some things about the car and maybe it is a little lazy now. We can try some different settings now.

89. TOEDTLI / PAQUE – SKODA FABIA R5
In a narrow left I put the throttle too flat and I hit the side of the road.

41. TEMPESTINI / BERNACCHINI – CITROEN DS3 R5
We spun in the first corner but it’s OK.

87. FIORI / TAVERA – SKODA FABIA R5
Like this morning it was a very difficult stage.

85. MANZAGOL / PATRONE – FORD FIESTA R5
It was very hard and very slippery. It was OK for us, we are learning the car.

46. PIENIAZEK / MAZUR – PEUGEOT 208 T16 R5
It was very difficult, we had some problems with the first loop today. We had some issues with the pop-off so the car doesn’t have proper power. We are driving, we are still in the rally and we can gain experience of these most difficult stages.

21. DUMAS / CHIAPPE – PORSCHE 997 GT3 RS 4.0
Now with the heat the rear tyres are suffering a lot. I finish it and try to cruise to the end. I try to push a bit.

88. BOLAND / M. J. – FORD FIESTA R5
You hope to get a straight to catch a breather but there are none there. It was more slippery that time around but it’s going well.

61. ASTIER / VAUCLARE – PEUGEOT 208 R2
A good stage but difficult. It’s hot and slippery but I’m happy.

22. DELECOUR / SAVIGNONI – ABARTH 124 RALLY
The last two stages are the first of the rally that I have not had any problems at all. I push very hard on this stage, the car has a lot of potential.

101. SOLANS BALDO / IBANEZ SOTOS – FORD FIESTA R2
In this stage we caught the car in the front.

102. FOLB / GUIEU – FORD FIESTA R2
I’m happy today.

128. NANNUCCI / NESTA – RENAULT CLIO R3
No brakes.

104. CIAMIN / DE LA HAYE – FORD FIESTA R2
I pushed so much that I’m happy with the time. It was much, much better than this morning, it was good. It will be tough to catch the next car but we will try to do it.
