The FFSA French Rally Team still in contention

After an excellent first leg the FFSA French Rally Team tackled the second one with a little more caution. Yohan Rossel and Éric Camilli, the two members of the French squad, are among the front-runners after scoring convincing results.

Despite much more clement weather today with the sun breaking through, the second leg of the Tour de Corse was perturbed. First of all by the cancellation of SS4 because of the previous day’s floods, and then by the state of the roads with muddy apexes, while the passage of the front-running drivers made the trajectories more slippery and more difficult to cope with.

Yohan Rossel and his co-driver Benoît Fulcrand continued in their approach setting good stage times thanks to clean driving, which has put them in second place this evening in the Junior World Rally Championship in their Citroën DS3 R3. Éric Camilli, co-driven by Benjamin Veillas in a Ford Fiesta R5, punctured in SS5 after which he pulled back time in SS6 helping him to hold on to his place in the Top 5 in the overall classification.

“I didn’t take any risks as we lacked grip. The apexes were pretty dirty. We lost our brakes in the last stage for more than a dozen kilometres. But it’s still on the cards. Tomorrow, I’m going to try and be consistent and push”, explained Yohan Rossel.

“Unfortunately, we punctured in the first stage after hitting a stone and lost time. The setup, though, was much better than yesterday. In the second one we pushed hard to make up lost time. Tomorrow we’re going to continue in the same vein”, said Éric Camilli entered in the Oreca colours for Toyota Motorsport GmbH.
