SS 18 : Sébastien Ogier ends on a positive note

Sébastien Ogier wins the last stage of the Rallye de France-Alsace which is also the Power Stage. The Gap driver finishes in front of Elfyn Evans (+9”7) and Jari-Matti Latvala (+12”9). In this last stage Robert Kubica went off. Latvala wins his first asphalt WRC rally. He is the third Finn to make it on that surface after Markku Alèn and Tommi Makinen.

Leg 3

Stage 18: Forêt de Saverne 2 (19,36 km)

Weather: nice weather – little spots of fog in some places.

Road conditions: dry roads except some damp places over 1 km. Dirty roads in the undergrowth.

1. OGIER/INGRASSIA:

« I had 3 hard tyres and 1 soft. It was not an optimal choice but I did my very best. »

21. PROKOP/TOMANEK:

« I’m happy in the end because it’s not my favourite rally. I will now focus on the Spanish rally. »

7. NEUVILLE/GILSOUL:

« I lost power during the stage so I had to switch mappings. »

20. BOUFFIER/PANSERI:

« I’m quite happy to finish this rally. I was able to gain a useful experience. At the end of the day, it’s quite a positive rally even if I would have preferred a better position…»

4. OSTBERG/ANDERSSON:

« I heard a suspect noise in the car. I lost concentration a little bit and didn’t hear the note. I made a little mistake.»

5. HIRVONEN/LEHTINEN:

« I was Ok in some stages but I really need to learn more about those new tyres. »

10. KUBICA/SZCZEPANIAK:

Went off. Driver and co-driver are OK.

8. SORDO/MARTI:

« I am sincerely sad for Kubica who had previously done a great job. We made good progress during this rally. We succeeded in getting much better settings on the car throughout the rally.»

3. MEEKE/NAGLE:

« I’m quite happy with my week-end. I could hardly have done better.»

9. MIKKELSEN/FLOENE:

« This result is a confirmation that I really made a big step forward on tarmac since the Rally Deutschland. It’s quite an amazing feeling for a Norwegian to be on the podium of an asphalt rally. »

2. LATVALA/ANTTILA:

« I have learnt a lot from my mistake in Germany. It helped me tremendously in order to handle that final leg. I will fight until the end for the championship title. »

39. GILBERT/JAMOUL:
