Yvan Muller joins Citroën and Sébastien Loeb!

Citroën puts on a great spread by recruiting Yvan Muller, the current best driver in the WTCC. The association with Sébastien Loeb and the Citroën C-Élysée WTCC is quite mouthwatering…

Twelve. It is, at least, the number of World Champion titles that will cohabit next year at Citroën Racing. Yvan Muller, a three-time World Touring Car Champion (WTCC), will indeed join Sébastien Loeb, a nine-time World Rally Champion. After the confirmation of its commitment in WTCC, Citroën Racing has just nominated Yvan Muller as an official driver for the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

Born in Altkirch, a few kilometers away from Sébastien Loeb, Yvan Muller is a highly-respected figure in the world of WTCC. Having broken every record going, from race wins, to points scored, to number of pole positions and number of laps spent in the lead, the Alsatian could in fact seize his fourth world crown at the end of the season.

A consistently excellent performer and painstaking in his car development work, Yvan Muller was an ideal choice, as Yves Matton, Managing Director of Citroën Racing, confirmed: “Throughout its history, be it in cross-country rallies or WRC, Citroën Racing has always sought to recruit the best drivers. A driver as experienced as Yvan will help us to make rapid progress and will also be an excellent point of reference for Sébastien Loeb.” Having worked with five manufacturers during his touring car career, Yvan Muller is feeling highly motivated by this new challenge: “It’s fantastic that a brand with such a terrific record is getting involved in a category where it still has everything to learn. It’s nice to be able to go beyond my role as a driver by offering the benefit of my knowledge and making an active contribution to building a successful team.”

With a fourth World Touring Car Championship title in mind and the testing program of the Citroën C-Élysée WTCC that will take place in the lead-up to the 2014 season, the next few months will be particularly busy for Yvan Muller. Let’s hope that he can still enter the Rally France-Alsace 2013, like the previous years…
