Sébastien Loeb at European Rallycross Championship

30/08/2013

The Lohéac Rallycross, French round of the European Rallycross Championship, will greet two major guests this week-end (August 31st-September 1st): Petter Solberg, who participates all year long to this competition recognized by the FIA; but also Sébastien Loeb, who was invited by the organizers!

The nine-time World Rally Champion has not said farewell yet to the rally world. At the beginning of October, Sébastien Loeb will enter the Rally France-Alsace (October 3-6), which should be his last run in WRC. But before this last dance, the Alsatian will be in Lohéac, for the French round of the European Rallycross Championship.

Sébastien Loeb will compete for the very first time in Rallycross, at the wheel of a similar Citroën DS3 that he used during his X Games’ victory in 2012. Delighted to meet Tanner Foust again, whom he had beaten in Los Angeles, France’s favorite driver explained his participation: “2013 is definitely a year full of challenges. I received an invitation from the organization, and I decided to answer positively. I couldn’t let this opportunity to participate at least once in my career pass. Apart from the X Games, I have no experience in Rallycross so I will probably have to fight hard against fast specialists in a very high level championship.”

There will be a total of ten World Rally Champions’ titles entering Lohéac’s track this week-end (August 31st-September 1st). Besides Sébastien Loeb, Petter Solberg, who transferred to this discipline after he left the WRC last year, will indeed drive a Citroën DS3. In addition, the two drivers, who are the past ten years titles’ holders, will also battle with Kris Meeke, another regular WRC driver, who will drive a Peugeot 208 SuperCar; thereby constituting one of the best entry list ever seen in Lohéac!

L’Équipe 21, the new 100% sport 100% free French TV, did not miss this opportunity and will broadcast the live race of Lohéac’s Rallycross on Sunday 1st September at 2 pm!
