Sébastien Chardonnet wins the Citroën Top Driver

20/11/2013

After his WRC3 title, seized during the Rally France-Alsace 2013, Sébastien Chardonnet scores double by winning the first edition of the Citroën Top Driver. A victory which guarantees him a future in WRC2 for 2014.

It is a successful season for Sébastien Chardonnet. Registered in WRC3 and for the Citroën Top Driver in 2013, the young member of the FFSA French Rally Team widely shone. Confirming all the hopes generated by his tenth place in the Rally France-Alsace 2012, he captured the WRC3 world title by securing a second place at the Rally France-Alsace 2013.

More recently, during the Wales Rally GB, Sébastien Chardonnet and Thibault de La Haye, his co-driver, excelled again by grasping the Citroën Top Driver. While finishing second of the Welsh round, the young duo has validated its future for 2014. By winning the first edition of the French manufacturer’s international promotion formula, the Riviera pair is being rewarded by a six race program in WRC2 with a Citroën DS3 R5.

Advised and supported by Daniel Elena, the young duo will keep aiming for excellence in 2014, as Sébastien Chardonnet explained: “It’s amazing! We fulfill our biggest dream by winning this competition. This result has been shaped by our mutual fighting spirit. A wonderful opportunity is now given to us, and the goal will be the same than in 2014.”

First winner of the Citroën Top Driver, Sébastien Chardonnet will have, no matter what happens next, marked the competition’s history. And maybe so will he with the WRC’s?
